“An Evening with Kate Campbell”

On October 11, 2008, the Benedictine Sisters of Virginia welcome Kate Campbell to the Linton Hall School (9535 Linton Hall Rd, Bristow, VA) auditorium for their first joint ministries event.  Support raised from “An Evening with Kate Campbell” will benefit the community service ministries of the Benedictine Sisters of Virginia which includes Transitional Housing BARN, BEACON for Adult Literacy, Benedictine Counseling Services, Benedictine Pastoral Services and Linton Hall School.

Celebrated as a musician in the company of Mary Chapin Carpenter, Nanci Griffith and Emmylou Harris, Kate Campbell’s compositions articulate provocative lyrics while maintaining a distinctive sound and talent all her own.  Born to a Baptist minister in Sledge, Mississippi, Kate spent early years singing at Sunday services.  Upon receiving a Masters degree in Southern History, she moved to Nashville to teach college history and work on songwriting.  Kate’s combined skills as a historian and musician contribute to the narrative blend of history, memories and music in each of her songs.  “Her songs capture the heart of the Southland in a way that some have likened to William Faulkner and Tennessee Williams,” Lee Zimmerman, Goldmine

The evening will begin at 7:00 pm with Kate performing two sets with a 30 minute intermission where refreshments will be available.  Tickets will go on sale August 11 for $25 prepaid; $30 at the door.  Please check www.osbva.org or call 703-361-0106 for ticket information.
