Postulant Mary

"What is it that you seek?

What Is It That You Seek?

On Sunday, November 8, 2009, the community of sisters welcomed Mary Clark as a new member to the monastic community.  Mary comes to us from Woodbridge, Virginia after thoroughly discerning God's call and experiencing our Live-In Program.  Accompanied by her spiritual community of friends, Mary knocked on the monastery door, and, after responding to the question "What is it that you seek?",  was joyfully granted entrance.  We salute her courage, patience, and her "YES" to God's call!

Our Novices
Sister Kathleen and Sister Karen Lynn

Happy Happy, Joy Joy

On Saturday, August 30, 2008, postulants Kathy Persson and Karen Trespacz became novices; they are here-to-for known as Sister Kathleen and Sister Karen Lynn.  Both sisters entered the monastery one year ago, and during their postulant year, took the opportunity to try-on the monastic way of prayer, work, study, and communal living.  During their novice year, they will live the life more intensely with classes in Holy Scripture and the Rule of Benedict, meet with other novices of different orders, experience some manual labor, and deepen their private and communal prayer life.  With faith, perseverance, and the support of their sisters, they will continue on their journey to do God's will in the ancient but ever-new monastic way of following the Gospel.

 Perpetual Monastic Profession

Sister Veronica P. Joyner, O.S.B. and Sister Vicki Ix, O.S.B. receive their rings, a symbol of their perpetual monastic profession.

Sister Vicki Ix, O.S.B. and Sister Veronica P. Joyner, O.S.B. , both made their final monastic profession on September 1, 2007.  Supported by many family members, friends, and extended community, these two joyfully promised stability, fidelity to the monastic way of life, and obedience according to the Rule of Benedict, for life.  As fully incorporated members of the community, they have graduated from the formal formation program and now look forward to the ongoing formation that the Spirit and their Benedictine community will offer as the years ensue.
