Donations and Gifts "In Kind"

Eighty percent of the funding for our ministries comes from individual and private donations.  Year after year, we are blessed by those persons who give so generously "so that in all things God may be glorified (RB)."  The needs of our ministries are highly individualized based upon program goals.  Should you wish to make a gift directly to a specific ministry, contact may be made by e-mail, in person or in writing.  Gifts should be directed to the attention of the director of the ministry or to the Prioress with specification for that good work.  Undesignated gifts to The Benedictine Sisters of Virginia will be used to further our mission and ministries in the spirit of good stewardship mandated by The Rule of Benedict.

Planned Giving and Estate Gifts

Anita A. Moreland Memorial Fund

Sister Glenna Smith, O.S.B., founder and director of Benedictine Counseling Services (BCS), has announced the establishment of a fund in memory of her mother, Anita A. Moreland.  On December 18, 2003, the Board of Trustees approved the establishment of the Anita A. Moreland Fund, a fund that is intended to help BCS provide counseling, educational, and psychological services to "the least of our brothers and sisters."  Nita, as she was known, died on October 24, 2003, and left a legacy of love and caring for God's neediest persons.  Once the fund reaches an endowed level of $1,000,000, it is estimated that a variety of programs could be initiated and at least one full-time staff member could be made available to provide services for homeless women and their children and for other needy families.  We feel confident that many friends, colleagues, and family members will contribute generously to the Anita A. Moreland Memorial Fund so people in need will be served and Nita's memory will be honored in this very special way.

The Benedictine Sisters of Virginia pray continuously for our benefactors, living and deceased.  For more information on planned giving and estate gifts, contact our development director.  A tribute gift may also be designated for our various ministries in memory of a deceased member of the community, in memory of a deceased relative, or to an established memorial fund for a particular ministry.  Contact the Prioress, Sister Cecilia Dwyer, O.S.B., to discuss a tribute donation or the director of the ministry which is the beneficiary of the memorial fund.
